Every V2V validation strategy eventually needs real data, and every team underestimates how much systems engineering sits between a roof-mounted antenna and a dataset engineers actually trust.
Early drives lost entire sessions to a single failed RTK fix or an SD card that filled up mid-route. The program now runs dual RTK receivers per vehicle, redundant storage with automatic failover, and a pre-drive health-check script that refuses to start logging until every sensor reports nominal, cutting unusable session rate from roughly 18 percent to under 2 percent.
Camera footage captured alongside V2V logs inevitably contains license plates and pedestrian faces. Before any recording leaves the vehicle's onboard storage, an edge-deployed blurring model redacts identifiable imagery, and the accompanying metadata is stripped of any field that could reconstruct a precise home or workplace address from the trip's start and end points.
